TRIP ITINERARY/MISCELLANEOUS:

11:00am          Arrive Little Italy/Chinatown in Manhattan

Little Italy, where in 1932 an estimated 98% of the inhabitants were of Italian birth or heritage. With the encroachment of Chinatown, Little Italy’s heart and soul is Mulberry Street, which is crowded with restaurants, cafes, bakeries, imported food shops and souvenir shops. Ferrara’s Bakery, in the heart of Little Italy, is one of the oldest bakeries in the city, built in 1892.

New York’s Chinatown has a population of 150,000; that’s 2nd only to San Francisco in the country. The first Chinese people in the area came in from California where they had been employed in building the first transcontinental railroads. Its main businesses are restaurants and garment factories; some 55% of its residents speak little or no English. Chinatown is now livelier than ever - a thriving marketplace crammed with souvenir shops, food markets and restaurants in pagoda-style buildings and crowded with pedestrians day and night.

4:00pm            Depart Manhattan, NYC
