HOTEL:

Carlisle Inn, Sugarcreek, OH. Three nights. Everything about the Carlisle Inn feels special—especially the warmth and charm built into the inn’s public spaces and guest rooms by local Amish woodworkers and craftsmen. Their handiwork is everywhere you look—from the cozy wood paneled library to the wide variety of handsome, handcrafted beds. Each floor is distinctively decorated in a different style—such as Shaker, mission, cottage, or country—with oak and cherry trim, doors, and moldings. Off the wide, welcoming hallways, generous guest rooms feature either two queen-size or one king-size bed. Every room at the Carlisle Inn also features a balcony or porch for experiencing this country oasis—from the whitetail deer grazing at dusk in the close-by country churchyard to the slow sky circle of a red-tailed hawk or the blue flash of a kingfisher. Spacious sitting areas and cozy nooks with comfy couches and chairs are scattered throughout Carlisle Inn—perfect spots for reading and relaxing. For more active pursuits, there’s a swimming pool in an all-season room, with a retractable glass roof, and an exercise and game area.

In the second floor sitting area, you can play the piano, challenge someone to a game of checkers, or work on whatever jigsaw puzzle is in progress on the corner table by the fireplace. There are plenty of tables by sunny windows for enjoying our complimentary country-style continental breakfast…and you’re always welcome to help yourself to a cup of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate.

Yoder’s Amish Home and School House. Their knowledgeable, local tour guides will take you through two homes and the barn where they encourage all to hold and pet the animals! The tour explains the history and lifestyle of the Amish people. While at Yoder's Amish Home, take a buggy ride, too! They have authentic buggies and Amish drivers. Also, weather permitting, they offer a horse-drawn hayride.  Hop onto the open hay wagon for a fun ride down the lane! A team of large workhorses are used to give you an idea of how the Amish use these horses for field work.

Guided tour of Sugarcreek/Amish Country. Sugarcreek is known for its diverse culture of Swiss, German,

Amish and others. Several stops will enhance your day, including Miller’s Homestyle Bakery, P. Graham Dunn

and Broad Run Cheese Haus.

Rolling Ridge Ranch. The Rolling Ridge Ranch is located between Berlin and Walnut Creek in the heart of Amish country. The ranch features over 500 animals & birds from around the world. Safari through natural woods and gently sloping pastureland. Feed the animals from a guided horse-drawn wagon tour. You are welcome to bring along your camera, as you will be up and close to the animals & birds.

Warther’s Carvings Museum, Dover, OH. See incredible wood carvings of walnut, ebony and ivory that the Smithsonian Institution declared "Priceless works of Art". Ernest "Mooney" Warther was declared the "World’s Master Carver" by fellow international carvers. You will marvel at this incredible collection, not to mention Freida Warther's Button Collection consists of 73,282 buttons (even one from Mrs. Lincoln's Inaugural Dress). A memorable candlelight dinner will be yours to enjoy in the Warther’s “Ivory Room.”

“BeHalt” Amish and Mennonite Heritage Center - "Behalt" ... meaning "to keep or remember", is a 10' x 265' cyclorama illustrating the heritage of the Amish and Mennonite people from the Anabaptist beginning in Zurich, Switzerland, in 1525 to the present day.
